How Will Fins Density Affect Fin Tube Heat Transfer Efficiency?

The relation between fin density and fin tube heat transfer efficiency.


1. When the fins heat transfer area is doubled, the heat transfer coefficient is decreased about 70%~90% instead of increase. This illustrates that fin efficiency will go down when with more density.

2. If fins are too high and dense, the fabrication will be come difficult, thus cost will increase.

3. It will be easy to have ash problem and difficult to clean if with too much high fins.

Fin tube ratio is the multiple of the surface area of the base tube after the fins added on tube. According to normal regulations, it is best to design and choose the fin tube ration at 5-10.
