Longitudinal Finned Tube applied in Boiler
Longitudinal finned tubes are fin strips formed into a U-shaped channel, with each leg of the U forming a fin. The channel is cut to the appropriate length, the base of the channel is rolled and spot welded to the tube or pipe, oriented along the length of the tube and resistance welded in place. The channels are welded in pairs, diametrically opposed, so the number of fins specified must always be a multiple of four.
Fin height, number of fins and thickness can be uniquely specified. Fins can be solid or serrated to suit the application.
Applications: Includes double and multi-tube heat exchangers, fired heaters, gas coolers and tank heaters.
